Masha Hasel was founded in 2021 in New York City, one of the world’s fashion capitals. Immigrant and woman-owned, we strongly believe that you shouldn’t have to break the bank to treat yourself to the bag of your dreams.
We cater a selection of affordable yet trendy and fashionable vegan leather bags that will complement all your outfits. Masha Hasel is all about creativity, fun and being yourself. The brand is a testament to our founder’s love of fashion.
Our Identity
Do you ever wonder where the name “Masha Hasel” comes from? This is a funny yet very short story.
Our founder, whose first name actually is Marie, took a Russian class while at university. Because there were two other Marie’s in the class, the professor needed to distinguish one from the other.
There was a Marie, a Maria and our founder became Masha. As a matter of fact, Masha (Маша) is a diminutive of Maria. It is very often used as a nickname or as a pet name for women named Maria or Marie.
With the years, the nickname caught on and stayed. Even today, our founder’s friends still call her Masha.
As for the second part of our brand name, it comes from our founder’s husband's last name. She simply thought Masha Hasel had a nice ring to it.

Our Mission
At Masha Hasel, we believe that style should not come at a high cost. We want fashionistas to sport their dream bag without having to break the bank. Indeed, we just want women to look good, feel good and be themselves.
Indeed, there is one thing we love more than your amazing style: your individuality. We want to help you show it, live your best life and look incredible while doing it.
The right handbag can go a long way. It completes an outfit, and can either style it up or down. Regardless, it is one way to make a personal style statement all on your own.
We value inclusivity and want to make our bags accessible to all. That is why we do not use genuine leather on any of our bags. Instead we use vegan leather and fabric.
Our Process
We source products from all over the world to build an exciting collection of different bag styles, materials, sizes and affordable price ranges. We partner with other creators, manufacturers and suppliers to make this collection accessible. Learn more about the process here. We primarily ship from two of our international warehouses in Asia, with some US orders shipping from our US office.
